Unique Tour:
There’s nowhere else to see DreamRiders

When DreamRiders aired on the Travel Channel on Father’s Day this year, we received many messages on our Facebook page from people who had been touched (see their quotes here.) Many asked when the show would air again and when the DVD would be available. The show will not air until next Father’s Day at the soonest (it was meant to be a holiday special) and we may never sell a Travel Channel version of the DVD (although it is available as an iTunes download.) BUT we cut a theatrical version of DreamRiders that won awards and applause at film festivals and this is the version that we are bringing to Connecticut. It’s bigger, it’s more cinematic, and it’s even more inspirational than its small screen sibling.

In Towns You Wouldn’t Expect

We purposely chose non-traditional towns for our Connecticut premiere tour. Although they are not “in the boondocks,” none of them have a regular cinema (although they may screen films occasionally at other venues.) While it’s true that it’s not the 1800s and people can get in a car and drive to a theater nowadays, we think it will be a refreshing change to enjoy a great movie with the great folks who live right where you live. So we are bringing the projector, the big screen and the big sound system to set up in your town hall, grange, community center or school.

A Bicycle-Powered Film Tour

All of the aforementioned equipment will arrive on the back of a heavy-duty bicycle trailer pulled by producer and cast member, William S Roulston. What could be more perfect than a movie about a bike tour being shown on a bike tour through CT? And we want this to be the greenest tour ever while promoting fun and community connections. We’re looking for people to ride with Will from one stop on the tour to another (good for a free ticket for that night’s show) so we can share the experience together and talk about the film and our dreams. Or you can ride a bike from your house to the screening to get $1 off the regular ticket price. More info on our Ride With Us page.

Meet the Producer

If you’re not into biking from town to town, you’ll still be able to meet our film’s producer as he introduces DreamRiders at each screening and sticks around to answer questions and interact with the audience afterwards. This has been a real highlight at screenings in Sheffield, England; Palm Beach, FL; Hollywood, CA; Utah & Iowa as audiences ask about the behind-the-scenes stories and we get to ask the audience about their reactions. If you want to spend even more time interacting with Will, there are opportunities to share meals, provide lodging or have him speak at a community meeting, either sponsored or for free. You can see more details on our Meet Us page.

Why We’re Doing This Tour:
DreamRiders Needs To Be Experienced In A Theater

We went to the trouble of making a film about our experience because we knew that not only would the ride change our lives, but it could change the lives of others as well. Bold claim? Maybe. But we are hearing from viewers thanking us for the hope we’ve given them. If DreamRiders is going to touch people, it has to be seen, but how can people see it if it’s only on TV once a year? A theatrical run is impossible right now (see below).

We don't have the big media bucks it takes to cut through all the clutter and get noticed, so we’ve taken this unusual step with the bottom line being that no matter what, the film will get seen—hopefully by thousands of people—and that’s the most important thing. We hope that by coming to smaller towns, word will spread both about this unusual tour and our unusual film. We believe in the magic of movies and have watched people really moved by DreamRiders when it’s shown on the big screen in a darkened theater. So, we’re taking action to get the film out there instead of waiting for things to happen, which is what you usually have to do if you want dreams to come true.

We Want To Start Conversations About Finding The Life Of Your Dreams

Why do we settle for less than what we deserve in life? What holds us back from living truly fulfilled lives? In our experience, it was our relationships. Life would be pretty easy if it weren’t for people! It’s especially vexing when the people we struggle with are as close as our own families. We have high hopes of sharing the things we learned as a father and son on our journey, not just through the film, but through talking to people. We want to talk to individuals and organizations about how to support stronger families, especially about what kind of support men need to be the fathers our world so desperately needs. We hope that this trip can start building momentum, in the communities we visit and beyond, for a more father-supportive world. Read our Director’s Statement for more thoughts on the connection between family and living the life of your dreams. Organizations and individuals whose mission includes building stronger men and stronger families should read our How To Help Us Come To Your Town page to get ideas for ways we might partner to serve.

It’s Expensive and Difficult To Release a Movie

We’ve made a film that has been lauded by critics and fans alike. But there are still changes we’d like to make to make the film even better and that costs money. Since Will sold his house, borrowed against his retirement and used up his savings and credit limits to produce the film, we need help to go forward with plans to distribute the film theatrically. We hope to raise money through ticket sales, sales of DVDs and soundtracks, corporate sponsorships and individual contributions from people who believe in our film. Using good old-fashioned Yankee ingenuity and hard work, plus the efforts of community who believe in the value (and values) of what we are doing, we hope to bring hope and healing to families, laughter and entertainment to communities, and raise the capital needed to keep riding toward our ultimate destination.

You can read more about contributing to our cause on the Help Us Come To Your Town and Sponsorship Opportunities pages. You don't have to be a big business! Any contribution, large or small, helps us. Both links above have information for ways individuals, organizations and businesses can get involved.
